I-frame / Webservices & Petango Options

In this section you will learn:

What is the Adoptable Search?

PetPoint’s Adoptable Search I-frame provides live adoptable pet data to your website, giving the world information about pets that are available in your shelter or rescue. Because it’s real-time, your website will be instantly updated when changes are made in PetPoint, such as when a pet is adopted.

How to Setup the Adoptable Search

Adding the Adoptable Search I-frame should only take a matter of minutes to complete – the process is very similar to adding a ShelterCare Bowl of Food Plus Program Banner Ad to your organization’s website.

If you have not placed the Adoptable Search on your site, please read more about it here: Adoptable Search Quick Setup Guide

We also have a more in-depth manual for those web developers who wish to add and customize the Adoptable Search that can be found here:  How to Setup PetPoint’s Adoptable Search I-frame

Select or deselect the different fields as you would like them to appear on your website & click Submit to save the changes.  Please note that changes you make here will not be immediate – it will take 24 hours for the changes to take effect and show on your organization's web page.

How to Add other Stages in the Adoptable Search Listings

The default trigger for sending adoptable animal data to your I-frame is the “Available” stage.  Any animal in the Available stage will appear in your I-frames on your website and on Petango.com.

You can now add additional stages to be included in the Adoptable Search listings, with just a simple click of your mouse. For example, you may want the animal to show “Foster Program” as its stage, but you still want the animal to appear online.

STEP 1

Go to Admin Options - Go to I-frame / Webservices & Petango Options.  Navigate to the bottom portion of the screen, select the stage you require from the dropdown and click add.

STEP 2

You may add as many as you like, but remember that as soon as you make any additions to the stages included, those animals will appear immediately.  Click Submit when you are done.

Tip:  It is recommended that you go through your inventory and disable any images of animals you don’t want the public to see (example – pictures taken at time of intake).

What is the Lost/Found Search?

PetPoint’s Lost/Found/Stray Search I-frame provides live Lost, Found or Stray pet data to your website, giving the world information about pets that have been reported found to you by the public, are currently in your shelter or rescue (as a “stray”), or pets that have been reported Lost to you by the public; giving them a better chance at being found.  Because it’s real-time, your website will be instantly updated when changes are made in PetPoint.

What are Happy Tails

PetPoint’s Happy Tails I-frame provides adopted pet data to your website on a daily basis, giving the world information about pets that have found happy homes!   Only animals that have been processed through Outcome Adoption in PetPoint will appear in the Happy Tails I-frame.  They will be published to the Happy Tails I-frame the day after the adoption is processed (regardless of Immediate or Deferred Release) and will stay posted until their Happy Tales Expiry Date, giving the adoption coordinator time to write the Happy Tail memo with the adopter and enter it onto the record of the adopted animal.  The data entered for each Happy Tail is uploaded to the shelter or rescue's website overnight.

Administrators have the ability to set a default time animals should appear on the Happy Tails I-frame, which is used to populate a Happy Tails Expiry Date on the Outcome Details page of the Adoption.

What is the Petango Editor

At the request of many shelters and rescues, we have created a new user role called the Petango Editor.  Users with this role will have the ability to do limited editing of active inventory animals for display on Petango.com and within the Adoptable Search I-frame.  This role should be given to data entry employees or volunteers who need no access to PetPoint other than to work with records displayed on the web.

How to Setup the Petango Editor

The users you provide access to the petango editor can be restricted to not be able to make certain changes by visiting this page and checking any of the boxes you wish for them to only be able to view and not alter.  Submit at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Administrators also have the ability to hide certain Animal Stages from being able to be altered via the Petango Editor user login.  To do so select the particular Stage, check the Hide on Petango Editor? box and click Add.
