How to Outcome an Animal as Euthanized
If an animal is euthanized while under the care of the organization, the animal can be removed from the population through the Outcome Euthanasia process.
If your organization performs the Euthanasia on an animal you will actually be doing two steps to complete the process. The first, Outcome Euthanasia, changes the animal’s stage from Available to Pre Euthanasia and allows you to assign a new Location. The second step is to enter in the euthanasia details under Care Final Euthanasia. If your organization does not perform the Euthanasia, PetPoint Lite users have the option of outsourcing the euthanasia to an offsite Vet Hospital to skip the Care Final Euthanasia page altogether.

Step 1 - Animal Details
Using
the Search
Tool at the top of the page, locate and select the animal,
which will already be in your PetPoint database from the Intake process.
You can also use the Advanced
Search if needed. Click Forward.

Step 2 - Offsite Euthanasia
If your organization did not perform the euthanasia, mark the Offsite checkbox shown in the picture below. From the new drop down box that appears, choose who the euthanasia was performed by. This list is populated by Person records in your database with the association of Medical Personnel. Once you submit the changes on this page after performing steps 3-5, the euthanasia is complete and the animal is marked deceased. Alternatively, if the euthanasia was done onsite, go directly to step 3, skipping this step.

Step 3 - Outcome Details
Select the Primary Reason for Euthanasia, and two secondary reasons if needed. For onsite euthanasia, you may also change the Scheduled Date/Time to a future date or update the Location to record where the animal is going to be held until the euthanasia is performed. (Red=Required / Blue=Optional)

Step 4 - Releasing Holds
The screen provides an Animal Hold section to make sure you can release any holds an animal has, otherwise the animal cannot be selected for outcome.

Step 5 - Submit the Pre-Euthanasia Stage
Click on Submit to complete the process and put the animal in Pre Euthanasia stage.

Step 6 - Forms & Links
By using the links on this screen the user can view/print the following:

Consent Form: Opens the window to Print Contract.
Print Kennel Card: Opens the window to print the Kennel Card.
Go to Care - Euthanasia: This animal will be listed on the Care Final Euthanasia screen until processed with the following information: Method of Euthanasia, Euthanasia Substance, Amount Used, and Performed By.
The Animal is now considered:
P Status: Deceased
P Stage: Released
P Location:
Released
The Animal View Report now also has an Ownership Record with the owner's name, and the Person View Report contains information on the adopted animal. Additionally, any receipts for this operation will be listed on the Person View Report.
For onsite euthanasia, after scheduling you must complete it on the Care Final Euthanasia screen. This is essential to remove the animal from the database with a status of Deceased.
Also after Care Final Euthanasia you can use the Care Post Mortem Activity screen to record activities such as rabies specimens or necropsies, and also to record comments and print contracts.
