What is a Deferred Release and how is it different from Immediate Releases?
When you do an outcome in PetPoint you are given two choices to complete the process - an Immediate Release, or a Deferred Release. When an animal is chosen for a Deferred Release they will show on the Outcome Release list and have a stage/location assigned in the database until they leave your facility, at which time you do the process explained in this helpfile to release them from PetPoint and your facility.
Why would I want to use the Deferred Release option?
One possible scenario would be that you already have an adopter lined up for a specific animal and you want to get all the necessary documents and contracts ready for when the adopter arrives for the adoption appointment. As long as you have the correct information, the user can perform the deferred Outcome Adoption in the early morning to get ready for the pick-up that late afternoon.
Once the adopter arrives, that person won't have to wait long as everything will be ready for them when they walk through the door. All they need is a few moments to sign your contract and receive the Adopter Downloads.
The animal is waiting for further veterinary care prior to leaving the shelter/rescue.
The user is processing the adoption offsite and the animal will be picked up at the shelter/rescue.
The new owner wishes to return later to bring the animal home, and the Outcome Adoption process needs to be completed now.
The Outcome Return To Owner, Transfer, Clinic, Service, or Wildlife paperwork needs to be created/processed but the party you are releasing the animal to will not pick the animal up until a later time.

Selecting Outcome: Release will display a search for any deferred Outcomes:

Selecting any of these will jump the user to the Details tab of the Outcome with a checkbox available to "Process Deferred Outcome Release." Check this box and complete the Outcome as usual.

The Summary tab for the Outcome will display, including all details of the Outcome and ability to print documentation specific to the Outcome type.
