Dear Shelter,
In a recent business publication the headline on the front cover read “Cheap Chips, Free Software – Look who’s building the next tech boom.” Needless to say it caught our eye.
Now while the reference to chips was really about those tiny little processors that make it into our laptops, you can imagine why we loved the headline. Inside the article itself, one interviewee was quoted as saying “Computing is becoming a commodity. Right now we’re seeing an acceleration in that trend, where the cost of basic computing is being driven down to almost zero… This is just evolution.” In short, what the article was saying is that in this decade we are seeing a move towards software as a means of delivering services.
This story is hardly unique. Last Wednesday the headline in the “Marketplace” section of the Wall Street Journal boomed “Google’s Free Software Bundle Will Vie With Microsoft Office”. Inside, one of the paragraphs started “Working in favor of those Internet interlopers is a continuing shift by businesses and consumers to software used over the Internet”. I trust that you will excuse us for feeling that we are somewhat ‘ahead of the curve as they say’ and we certainly don’t mind being called Internet interlopers.
At Pethealth we realized this trend over 2 years ago! We asked ourselves “Why if we as individuals were benefiting daily from the offering of consumer based free Internet software platforms, should animal welfare organizations be expected to pay for theirs?” We couldn’t come up with a good reason, so we created PetPoint.
PetPoint is now the most widely used animal data management system available to animal welfare organizations in North America. Close to 450 animal control operations, humane organizations and rescue groups have now licensed the program. As the only web based ASP solution on the market, better than one organization daily is making the move to PetPoint.
Of course the fact that it is free of charge, (that’s right not just the best but also free), to animal welfare organizations that are using the 24PetWatch microchip program and promoting the ShelterCare insurance program has made the decision for these organizations all the more easy. And as you will see from the testimonials we have received, our service provision is also the best. As for our microchips we have reduced the price in 2006, yet again for those running the PetPoint program and more importantly, we remain the only microchip provider to offer free registration.
So, the question you should be asking yourself is not “How can Pethealth offer free software and low cost microchips to our organization?” but rather, “Why are we continuing to pay for the software we use to run our organization?” More frankly, where is your organization in the evolutionary process? Traditional proprietary hardware based systems are clearly a thing of the past. Don’t get caught in the software ice age that is coming. Call us today to find out how you can move your organization to PetPoint.
Sincerely,
Your Pethealth Team
